Colleen Stubbs, MS, MBA, PMP established PMP in the Lab to help bring project management strategies to laboratory scientists across the US.
After gaining my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in 2018, I found that the techniques were adaptable to the work being done in laboratories and wanted a way to teach these management tools to scientists. I broke down what I want to do into two pools, concepts and tools, so that way each can be easier to navigate for people with questions.
As of 2020, with the outbreak of COVID-19 my experience as an RNA scientist allowed me to delve heavily into the burgeoning vaccine and SARS-CoV-2 research efforts. There was such a mass of disinformation that I chose to use my recently established blog to help bring people more information than they could find in the news without having to go all the way to research papers. Collateral Science will cover a wider variety of popular science topics at a greater depth than the average news article while still being accessible to a wider audience than reading the scientific publication.
Continuing to build on my credentials, as on 2023 I now have an MBA from Rice University where I focused on classes that dealt with entrepreneurship and operations. From these classes and talking with my peers, I learned how I can help scientists and other entrepreneurs understand what they wanted to accomplish with their company better as well as help them implement my suggestions. Because of that, I am now open to offering consulting services, if interested then see the consulting page for more information.
